The Los Angeles County Democratic Party last night voted overwhelmingly to endorse candidate
Robert Nakahiro over incumbent Nancy Pearlman for the Los Angeles Community College
Board, Seat #6.
“I am honored and humbled to have our Party’s endorsement of my candidacy for the
Community College Board,” Nakahiro said. “As a lifelong Democrat, I view the endorsement as
not only a display of the confidence that Democratic Party grassroots activists and leaders have
in me, but as a tremendous boost to my race to refocus the Community College Board on
affordability, accessibility and increased quality of education. In the current economic
environment, we owe it to our constituents to make available a world-class community college
education while keeping tuition affordable.”
The Los Angeles Community College Board serves constituents in more than 36 cities and
communities covering an area of more the 882 square miles. The LA Community College
District educates almost three times as many Latino students and nearly four times as many
African American students as all of the University of California campuses combined. Eighty
percent of LACCD students are from minority populations.
